Spurs Are On There Way To Wembley!

Tuesday 22nd January will go down as one of the great nights of cup football at White Hart Lane. I had a pint at liverpool st station and the pub was packed with spurs fans eagerly awaiting this game, the atmosphere was already building up and it was only 5pm.
I boarded the train and arrived in Tottenham just after 6pm had something to eat and went for a pre match pint. The pub was heaving, expectation was in the air, and why not. Spurs had played great in the first leg and were very unlucky not to come away with a win at the emirates. Was this going to be our night?
The match started like all derbies at a frantic pace and the noise level of the crowd was awesome. It went up a few decibels when Jenas scored on 3 minutes!

Spurs gave Arsenal's defence no respite with their fluent and attacking football as they took a stranglehold on the match.

The Gunners were also starved of possession in attack and they rarely looked like levelling, due to a determined Tottenham side.

Nicklas Bendtner knocked one into his own net on 27 minutes. Arsenal were rattled and on the backfoot and Dimitar Berbatov should have inflicted another bodyblow to the visitors when he was clean through, only to hit the post with his shot.

Half time came and the old ground was buzzing, what would the second half bring would spurs fold and concede or could they add to their lead.

The second half started and we didn't have long to wait for the next goal, a 3 pass move found Lennon's who's delightful ball with the outside of his right foot sent Keane through to score with a shot which appeared to catch Fabianski by surprise 3-0 spurs!

It got worse for Arsenal when Lennon slotted in on the hour mark as Spurs threatened to run riot.
That signaled the start of the Arsenal fans excedous from the ground, shame on them as it appears that their loyalty dosn't extend to actualy watching their team lose. They left with the cries of "cheerio" from the loyal spurs faithful.

Adebayor's 20-yard strike was too late to give Arsenal a way back into the game and their frustration boiled over when Bendtner appeared to argue with his team-mate and goalscorer before exchanging angry words with Gallas.

Malbranque compounded Arsenal's misery by sloting home our 5th goal of the night, witnessed only by spurs fans as the gooners were long gone by now.

Wenger's post match interview was in his usual style, no credit to the spurs team who just ripped his stars apart, instead nothing went his teams way. Arsenal fans this week have taken a leaf out of wenger's book stating we only beat their kids, they overlook the fact that they had 11 full internationals on the pitch who have made 278 first team appearances this season.

At the end of the day who gives a toss what wenger and the glory boys think. Real football fans want to see their team stuff there arch rivals in a semi final. The atmosphere was electric at the lane and the country saw a great game and a noise generated by the spurs fans that some clubs can only dream of.
